In this article, we are going to study the global parameter of reporting tool.

1. Description

Global parameter, as the name suggests, is a parameter applied globally with similar working principle to Template Parameter.

2. Creating steps

2.1 Define global parameter

Directly click Server > Global Parameter menu in our report designer to add an area parameter default as “North China”, as shown below:

Note: Global parameters will be saved in config.xml under project.

2.2 Open reports

2.3 Set parameter filter

Double click the Area data column cell, and click Filter tab. Select Parameter option in the Value area and you can see a parameter named “area” in the drop-down box. Select it and click Add, as shown below:

Note: Though global parameter “area” is not created in current template, it can be directly called in the template.

2.4 Create parameter interface

Click the Pen at the Parameter Module to make the Parameter Interface in an editable status. At the right bottom corner of the Parameter Interface will display the parameter names with no control and the global parameters, as shown below:

Click Add All to set the Parameter Interface, as shown below:

2.5 Save and issue reports

Save report and take a page break preview. The default Parameter Value is “North China”. Directly click Query to query the data of North China.
