1. Problem description

A trendline, a great tool for data analysis and data visualization, is used to display trend in data changes and is an attribute of Series. Being an important reporting tool, it can be used in line charts, scatter charts, combination charts, column charts and area charts.The chart below is a trend chart of freights at the first half of 1997, illustrating the freight trend:

Trendlines are set in Series format of the chart data. The example below shows how to make trendlines.
Open report:%FR_HOME%\WebReport\WEB-INF\reportlets\doc\Advanced\Chart\Dateaxis.cpt.
2. Example

2.1 Set trendlines
Select Chart. Click Chart Attribute Table – Style >Analysis Lines. Click the
button under Trendline to add a trendline and set name, line style and trend style, as shown below:

The fitting equation of trendline is the equation type of trendline. For details, see Trendline Principle chapter.
The trendline name is the name displayed in the legend.

2.2 Save and preview
Save template and click Page-breaking Preview to see the effect as shown above.

2.3 Forecast trendlines
Trend forecasting, belonging to business intelligence tool, means to predict trends ahead and after based on current trends and the unit is period, i.e., number of classifications.
In the trendlines as shown above, make the trend forecast forward by 2 periods and backward by 3 periods. Then, preview the report to see the effect as follows:
