Chart is popular thing in our daily life.But how about the procedure of making a chart in data visualization<\/a>. Today we’re going to learn about it.<\/p>\n

1. Chart Making Procedure<\/h3>\n

Chart making procedure of FineReport reporting tool<\/span><\/a> is shown as below:<\/p>\n

We will take the below bar chart as an example to briefly introduce chart making procedure.<\/p>\n

2. Example<\/h3>\n

2.1 Prepare Data<\/strong><\/p>\n

Definng data source before making a chart.<\/p>\n

Add new workbook, add dataset, define sql statement as SELECT * FROM [Sales]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

2.2 Insert Chart and Select Chart Type<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are two way of inserting a chart: cell element and float element. We take float chart here as an example.<\/p>\n

Click toolbar Insert>Float Element>Insert Chart<\/span><\/strong> and Chart Type<\/strong> will pop up. Then select Column Chart<\/strong> as shown below:<\/p>\n

2.3 Define Chart Data<\/strong><\/p>\n

After selecting chart type, click Ok. Return to main interface and select the float chart. Set chart properties on Chart Properties<\/strong> that lies on the upper right side of main interface and select Chart Properties-Data<\/strong>. Set column chart’s data as shown below:<\/p>\n

Category: It’s chart’s horizontal axis, namely, X axis, meaning how charts are displayed according to category.<\/p>\n

SeriesName: It’s chart’s vertical axis, namely, Y axis, meaning in what sequence the data in every category is displayed.<\/p>\n

SeriesValue: It’s every series’ value.<\/p>\n

Subtotal: It’s compute mode of series value.<\/p>\n

2.4 Chart Style Setting<\/strong><\/p>\n

Title Setting<\/strong><\/p>\n

Select the chart and Chart Properties<\/strong> will appear on the upper right side of designer. Select Chart Properties-Style>Data Label<\/strong><\/font> and add title as Regional Product Sales as shown below:<\/p>\n

Series Label Setting<\/strong><\/p>\n

Select Chart Properties-Style>Data Label and tickLabel<\/strong><\/font>. Then series value will be shown.<\/p>\n

Attention: You can set other Style for the chart.<\/p>\n

2.5 Save Template<\/strong><\/p>\n
