Problem description

As known from the Radar Chart Example, a radar chart is often used to analyze and calculate values of each index so as to prepare for data analysis and data visualization. As the statistic unit of each index is different, the value difference may be large.

By default, the coordinate axis units of a radar chart are uniform. Therefore, some categories withsmall values cannot be clearly displayed. To fix this problem, you can set the category axis value range to Auto Calculate to automatically calculate the category axis range based on the numeric value size of the category axis, as shown below:

2. Example

2.1 Open report

Open report:%FR_HOME%\\WebReport\\WEB-INF\\reportlets\\doc\\Advanced\\Chart\\Radar.cpt. In the template, the category axis units in a radar chart are uniform.

2.2 Set category axis value range to Auto Calculate

Select Chart. Click Chart Attribute Table – Style > Coordinate Axis, to switch Uniform Calculate to Auto Calculate in the Value Definition option, as shown below:

Preview the chart to view the effect.

3. Principle for auto calculation

Auto calculation principle is targeted at each category axis. The minimum graduation is 0, and the maximum graduation is the maximum value in this series of the category.

As shown in the above radar chart, which is an important reporting tool and business intelligence tool, the value for index category of total asset turnover ratio is 0.4.After the value range of category axis is set to Auto Calculate, the graduation range of this category axis is 0~0.4.

As shown below, calculate the productivity, safety, profitability, growth and liquidity of the company in 2010 and 2011. The turnover ratio in 2011 is 0.4 and that in 2010 is 0.3. So for the category axis of total asset turnover ratio, the maximum value 0.4 of these two series will be the maximum graduation.

4.
